Eph. 3:10; 1 Jn. 3:8; Jn. 16:5-11

Today's sermon is a brief summary of the themes of this series on Ephesians, followed by a Christian adaptation of Dr. Suess' "Grinch" story. In this poem, we go back to the original rebellion in the Heavenly realms, where Satan declared that knowing God could never be enough to satisfy, either himself or anyone else. The Son of God, rather than immediately sentencing the fallen angel, graciously grants him the trial he requests, and offers the human world as the arena wherein the test will occur. Jesus is confident that his Church will provide the evidence that will ultimately condemn Satan: namely, that knowing God CAN satisfy every longing of the heart.

This is the first recorded portion of our study of God's eternal purposes for the Church. However, it is actually the sixth segment of the study. For those who would like to understand better the theological framework into which this Christian adaptation of Dr. Suess' "Grinch" story fits, feel free to contact the church, by phone or e-mail, and we can send you the written manuscripts of the first five segments. You may also request a written copy of the "Grinch" poem itself.
