Eph. 4:11; Ez. 33:1-9; 1 Cor. 14:1-5

In the second installment of the series entitled "The 5 Body Systems of Ephesians 4," (5BSE4), we look at the prophetic ministry. Pastor Trevor begins with the clarification that biblical prophets are primarily FORTHtellers, not foretellers. Some have unfortunately misunderstood the prophetic ministry for something that has been often abused, and so discount it altogether. The prophetic ministry occasionally looks to the future, but more often calls us to look back - back to the commands and promises of God in His covenant word. In the human body, the immune system is responsible for allergies and auto-immune disease, but it also fights infection. The prophetic ministry, likewise, will often incite conflict in the Body, in order to maintain purity. This sermon reminds us that local churches need prophetic voices, but also seeks to warn those voices to be giants in prayer and service, so that their "watchman trumpets" are received in love.
