Jesus taught his disciples that in order to find life, they had to lose it. What are we meant to understand from this? Pastor Trevor shares from his own life story about the “dying process” he personally had to wrestle through, even to make his initial decision to be baptized as a believer. Although he was already a believer, and had been born again of the Holy Spirit, this question of baptism exposed something that had not truly been “lost” when he accepted Christ. While baptism is the initial symbol of a life “buried in Christ,” the Christian life is really an ongoing covenant promise to “die daily,” laying down every aspect of one’s own will as the Spirit exposes our natural resistance.
