James 5:16

Pastor Trevor and Chairman Randy Jennings share their experience attending a Church Renewal Conference at Southland Community Church in Steinbach, Manitoba. Southland was a dying, traditional, conservative church which began to experience revival under the leadership of a new pastor, but soon discovered that "continuous" renewal was necessary to keep from backsliding into the old patterns. The key distinguishing mark of this cultural of renewal was confession of sin: acknowldeging bitterness and unforgiveness, probing one's past for spiritual and generational strongholds, and publicly acknowledging personal sin to others in the church family. This idea of confessing sin has become virtually foreign to contemporary Evangelical churches, yet Pastor Ray Doerksen realized it was an "ancient path," without which our prayers are powerless. This message was intended to introduce a long-term goal of enhanced prayer in our own church family - prayers that get answered because the sins that hinder our prayers are uprooted!
