1 Thess. 5:19-24; Eph. 4:17-32

Last week, we identified "fingerprints" of the Holy Spirit; ways of knowing that you actually have Jesus living in you (because if he isn't, you aren't a Christian at all, and the rest doesn't matter.) Many Christians indeed have a few fingerprints, but not many, signifiying that the Spirit is present, but we are not allowing Him to touch anything. How is it that so many of us Christians say that we want God to have control of our lives, but see very little spiritual transformation? Having ruled out the option that the Spirit doesn't want to, we conclude that the problem must be on OUR side, not God's. We are resisting Him, and God, while able to simply hi-jack our lives, sovereignly chooses to wait for us to surrender them to Him. Today, we highlight two biblical terms that describe how we resist the Spirit: by QUENCHING Him, and by GRIEVING Him. This message expounds on how we do these two things, and ends with a dramatic portrayal of what this might look like, in the form of a skit by the "Skit Guys."
